Born as Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy in Florida 1998, Xxxtentacion, had a short-lived but very impactful career. His lyrics touched billions of hearts and undoubtedly he left an inerasable mark on the rap industry and his fans that continues to shine even after XxxTentacion death.

On June 18, 2018 in an unfortunate turn of events, the 20 year old, XxxTentacion was murdered in broad daylight. XxxTentacion death stirred the entire music industry and shattered the hearts of his fans. Now let us look at the events of that day in detail.


  • Location: XXXTentacion visited RIVA Motorsports, a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida. After spending some time looking at motorcycles, he departed in his BMW i8 around 3:55 PM.


  • The attack: As XXXTentacion was exiting the dealership parking lot, an SUV blocked his path. Two armed men emerged from the vehicle and approached him. After a brief struggle, during which XXXTentacion reportedly tried to defend himself, the attackers shot him multiple times in the neck. They then stole a Louis Vuitton bag containing $50,000 in cash, which he had just withdrawn to purchase a motorcycle.


  • Emergency response: Bystanders at the scene captured the aftermath of the shooting on their phones. When emergency responders arrived, they found XXXTentacion unresponsive and without a pulse. He was quickly transported to Broward Health North hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:30 PM.


The investigation to find the cause behind XxxTentacion death swiftly identified suspects through a combination of CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts, and forensic evidence. Four men were arrested and charged in connection with his murder. Dedrick Devonshay Williams, the getaway driver, was apprehended just two days after the crime. Michael Boatwright, arrested a few weeks later, was identified as one of the gunmen, while Trayvon Newsome, believed to be the second gunman, was captured in August 2018. Robert Allen, who appeared in surveillance footage at the motorcycle dealership, was also arrested for his involvement. All four faced charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.


XxxTentacion death caused three of the four men (Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome) to be convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery after a lengthy trial. They were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The fourth suspect, Robert Allen, pled guilty to second-degree murder and testified against the other three, which contributed to their convictions.

At the time, he was one of the most popular and controversial rappers, known for his raw, emotional lyrics and troubled past.
